Reducing wastewater to zero during manufacturing.

Published on: 03/11/19

We are proud of the investments made at the Audi Mexico San José Chiapa plant, the world’s first premium manufacturing facility to produce automobiles completely free of wastewater. This initiative allows Audi to capture approximately 22 million gallons of wastewater every year, which is enough water to fill 40 Olympic-sized swimming pools.

The importance of this innovation comes down to how crucial water is during the manufacturing process, especially during painting and leak tests. Every step of the process is designed to collect wastewater, which is treated to remove particles and unwanted materials, and further purified through multi-stage reverse osmosis so that it can be reused on-site.
