Protect Your Connected Vehicle Data 


If you are a victim of domestic abuse and would like to terminate a person’s access to your connected vehicle service (including the ability to view a vehicle’s location), please follow these instructions:


Send an email to
dbshelp@audi.com with the subject line [“EMERGENCY DISCONNECT”]. Identify whose access you would like to terminate. Please be sure to include the following information:

Required:

•    Your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). 
•    Proof of legal possession of your vehicle through either (1) legal title to the vehicle or (2) a dissolution decree, temporary court order, or domestic violence restraining order that awards you possession or exclusive use of the vehicle. 
•    IN NEW YORK ONLY: A written statement, signed and notarized, that you are a victim of domestic violence (as defined below*).

Optional:

•    Email address of whose access you would like to terminate 
Unless otherwise specified here, your information is subject to Audi’s Privacy Policy. All documentation submitted will be treated as confidential and deleted within 90 days of completing your request. We will not share this information with any third party without your affirmative consent, unless sharing is necessary to complete the disconnection or in response to a court order or warrant . 
Upon receipt, we will send you a confirmation email with a reference number. We will review your request and contact you by email if we need additional information, or to tell you that your request has been approved or denied.   

*A victim of domestic violence is any person over the age of sixteen, any married person or any parent accompanied by his or her minor child or children in situations in which such person or such person's child is a victim of an act which would constitute a violation of the penal law, including, but not limited to acts constituting disorderly conduct, harassment, aggravated harassment, sexual misconduct, forcible touching, sexual abuse, stalking, criminal mischief, menacing, reckless endangerment, kidnapping, assault, attempted assault, attempted murder, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, strangulation, identity theft, grand larceny or coercion; and (i) such act or acts have resulted in actual physical or emotional injury or have created a substantial risk of physical or emotional harm to such person or such person's child; and (ii) such act or acts are or are alleged to have been committed by a family or household member.

1.    Can someone use my vehicle’s connection to remotely track my location?
  a.    myAudi allows the Key User and any nominated Secondary Users to check the vehicle’s parked location. Live vehicle trip tracking is not available via myAudi.
2.    Can someone gain unauthorized access to my vehicle using the myAudi app?
       a.    myAudi allows the Key User and any nominated Secondary Users to remotely lock/unlock the vehicle. This action cannot be performed while the vehicle is in motion.
3.    What information is available in the myAudi app if someone else is set as my vehicle’s Key User?
       a.    The following information is available to a Key User (depending on vehicle equipment):
              1.    Vehicle’s parked location
              2.    Any speed, Valet, or Geofence alerts established in myAudi
              3.    Tank fill level and/or battery charge level
              4.    Odometer mileage
              5.    Locked status – includes doors, hood, tailgate, and sunroof

 

Self-service methods to protect your connected vehicle data 


If you are unable or unwilling to submit the documentation required for emergency removal in connection with a domestic violence situation, there are self-service methods available to help you protect access to your connected vehicle data and vehicle location. Please review each method thoroughly to determine which process best meets your needs. Note that some of these methods may send a just-in-time notification to users who have been removed.

In-Vehicle

Remote access rights can be controlled from within your vehicle’s MMI. On your MMI home screen: SELECT USERS > SETTINGS (GEAR ICON) > REMOVE KEY USER.

From your app’s main vehicle page: SCROLL DOWN AND SELECT TO ‘ALL FUNCTIONS’ > PRIVACY MODE SETTINGS. You must be set as your vehicle’s Key User or Secondary User to access privacy mode settings.
