Audi Digital Key
The 2025 Audi Q6 e-tron is the first vehicle in Audi’s lineup to support this innovative feature. The Audi Digital Key allows the key user to lock, unlock, and start the vehicle using their smartphone—no key fob required. This feature comes standard on all Q6 models and does not require an Audi connect subscription.
Depending on the customer’s phone, the digital key uses either Ultra-Wideband (UWB) or Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. Phones equipped with UWB allow the digital key to function like a traditional key fob—users can lock, unlock, or start the vehicle without removing the phone from their pocket or purse. Phones with only NFC require the user to physically tap the phone on the door handle to unlock and place it on the phone charging cradle to start the vehicle.
You can reference the phone manufacturer’s websites that list their compatible phone models. The Audi Digital Key only works with Apple and Android smartphones.

> Apple: Add your car key to Apple Wallet on your iPhone or Apple Watch - Apple Support
Note: Some recently released phones such as the Samsung Z Flip 6 and the Apple iPhone 16e do not come with Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology and must use NFC with the Audi Digital Key.
The digital key can be set up by the key user through the myAudi app or by using the welcome email received from "myAudi".
The easiest method to set the digital key is to complete the process directly though the myAudi app, using the phone you wish to use as the primary digital key.
> myAudi app >> Vehicle (page) >> All Functions >> Digital key
Alternatively, the key user should have received an email from “myAudi” containing the 8-digit pairing code, along with the Apple and Google Wallet icons at the bottom. Clicking on these icons allows the user to add the digital key directly to their Apple Wallet or Google Wallet to automatically complete the setup process on the phone they wish to use as the primary digital key.
The pairing code is generated upon the key user being set. To generate a new pairing code, the key user must be removed from the vehicle and then set again using the Audi activation card process. Alternatively, the user can enter an invalid code up to seven times in the MMI to force a new code to be generated and sent via email.
Unfortunately, the current vehicle software restricts the sharing of digital keys. However, this restriction is planned to be removed after the vehicle receives a vehicle software update, anticipated to occur later this year.
You can turn OFF the Audi Digital Key in the settings of the vehicle’s MMI system.
MMI screen >> App Selector >> Digital key >> Management >> toggle to OFF (move to left)
Audi connect Key Card (aka, Valet Key Card)
The 2025 Audi Q6 e-tron includes a silver Audi connect Key Card that uses Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. This key card is intended for specific situations where you need to provide access to your vehicle while using only the Audi Digital Key. For example, when using valet services or dropping the vehicle off for service, you would traditionally hand over the key fob. However, if you're operating the vehicle solely with the Audi Digital Key on your smartphone, that’s not possible. In these cases, the silver Audi connect Key Card can be temporarily activated as an authorized “access card” to hand off instead.
It’s recommended to store this card in a secure yet accessible place so it’s easy to retrieve when needed.
A digital key must first be paired and used to access the vehicle. If a key fob is used to access the vehicle, pairing a key card is not possible.
1. Ensure a digital key was used to access the vehicle (remove all key fobs from the area and access the vehicle with only the smartphone).
2. Locate the key card.
3. Start the pairing process for the key card in the MMI.
MMI screen >> App Selector >> Digital key >> Key card
4. Place the key card on the phone charging cradle located in the front of the center console, directly under the MMI screen.
5. Follow the steps in the MMI to complete the process.
No, this is not recommended. The Audi connect Key Card will automatically be deactivated once the key fob or the paired digital key is used to access the vehicle (e.g. opening the trunk of the vehicle). Unlike other EV brands, the Audi connect Key Card is not designed to be used as a daily key to access the vehicle.
The Audi connect Key Card can be replaced by requesting a new card from your Authorized Audi Dealership. A lost key card cannot be used to access the vehicle if it is never activated. If it was activated, simply use a key fob to access and start the vehicle. This will permanently deactivate the key card.
Whenever the vehicle has been accessed via the Audi Digital Key or a key fob, you will not be able to use the Audi connect Key Card until the card has been activated for use. If a wallet or small purse is placed in the storage area directly next to the mobile phone wireless charger, then this can indirectly activate the NFC card reader in the vehicle. This message will appear when the NFC card reader detects an NFC card that is placed near the reader, even if it is not the Audi connect Key Card (e.g. credit cards). Simply remove any cards from the immediate area to avoid seeing this message in the future.
Plug&Charge
Plug&Charge (PnC) is a feature that allows users to easily charge their vehicle at Electrify America DC fast-charging stations. Once enrolled, drivers only need to simply plug in their vehicle and the charging will begin immediately without additional user input.
All 2025 Q6 e-tron vehicles come with one year of unlimited charging credits at Electrify America DC fast charging stations beginning from the vehicle’s in-service date for the original owner.
If PnC is not enabled, users can still utilize their unlimited charging credits by entering the station ID in the "Start Charger" tile located on their myAudi app. Vehicles purchased at an Authorized Audi Dealership should have the PnC system activated in the MMI upon pickup.
Additionally, once the free charging credits have expired, the user can enroll in a paid charging plan directly in the myAudi app to continue to use the PnC feature at Electrify America charging stations.
You can verify if PnC is activated in the vehicle’s MMI system.
MMI screen >> App Selector >> Charging >> Additional Charging Settings >> Plug & Charge >> toggle is ON (over to right)
The PnC activation process requires generating a digital certificate in the Audi and Electrify America backends which can take many minutes to complete.
It is important to note that in order to initiate the PnC activation process, you must first set up a key user for your vehicle. It is recommended you seek assistance for this from your Authorized Audi Dealership, due to the amount of time and complexity required to complete the activation.
Below are the steps required for activating PnC in your vehicle:
1. Verify in MMI screen that key user is set up for the vehicle.
>MMI screen >> User account (small round icon in bottom left corner with initials) >> All users >> confirm key user is present
2. Turn the vehicle ON and continue to leave it running for the entire process.
3. Ensure Mobile data setting is ON.
>MMI screen >> App Selector >> Settings >> Privacy Settings >> Mobile data >> toggle to ON (move to right)
4. Cycle the ignition OFF and then back ON and remain in the vehicle for 2 minutes, to ensure it stays ON.
5. After 2 minutes, open the myAudi app, in the phone of the key user, to check the Electrify America account status.
>myAudi app >> Vehicle (page) >> scroll down to the Electrify America section >> select Start Charger >> verify if it states “ACTIVE” under the Unlimited Charging section >> proceed to step 6 if account is not yet active and go step 8 if account is already active
6. If an account is not already set up, please register for the free charging credits and keep the app open on the Start Charger page/tile for at least one minute after. This will allow the certificate to be generated.
7. After one minute, update Plug&Charge settings in your vehicle’s MMI system.
>MMI screen >> App Selector >> Charging >> Additional charging settings >> Plug & Charge >> toggle to ON (move to right)
Note, if Plug&Charge setting is grayed out, toggling the “Charging compatibility mode” ON and OFF twice should allow the Plug&Charge setting to be selectable (not grayed out).
Rear Occupant Detection
The 2025 Q6 e-tron is the first Audi model to feature an integrated second-row sensor in the interior roof panel, capable of detecting small movements when the vehicle is turned OFF and locked. This new sensor system works alongside the existing mechanical detection system used in previous Audi models. Rear Occupant Detection is specifically designed to alert the driver if a rear passenger remains in the vehicle after exiting. Please note that this system serves a different purpose and operates differently from the “interior monitoring system” offered on earlier Audi vehicles.
The system can be permanently deactivated in the MMI under the following path:
MMI screen >> App selector >> Vehicle >> More >> Scroll down to “Rear Occupant Detection” >> toggle to OFF (move to left)
Optionally, the system can be temporarily deactivated upon turning OFF the ignition and using the toggle in the MMI’s “Goodbye” screen.
The system will continue to display this option to the driver upon turning off the vehicle, regardless of the setting in the MMI. This serves as a reminder that the mechanical system is still available. Deactivating the feature in the MMI settings menu only disables the automatic movement sensor. Once deactivated, the sensor remains OFF, even if the toggle appears enabled on the “Goodbye” screen.
Vehicle Data Privacy Mode Setting (aka, Mobile Data)
The privacy mode concept has changed for the new 2025 Q6 e-tron. The setting in the MMI is no longer listed as “Privacy Mode.” The setting is now titled “Mobile data” in the MMI menu options. Mobile data must be set to ON in order to use most of the features in the vehicle and to see the vehicle status in the myAudi app.
>MMI screen >> App Selector >> Settings >> Privacy settings >> Mobile data >> toggle to ON (move to right)
You can disable all data communications in your vehicle’s MMI system.
> MMI screen >> App Selector >> Settings >> Privacy settings >> Mobile data >> toggle to OFF (move to left)
The Mobile data setting must be turned ON to allow all remote vehicle data to be sent to the app. Turn ON Mobile data to allow the app to show the vehicle status, including state of charge and EV range.
> MMI screen >> App Selector >> Settings >> Privacy settings >> Mobile data >> toggle to ON (move to right)
The Mobile data setting is OFF by default for the Guest user profile and any new user profile that is created in the MMI. You must first log in with your myAudi credentials (or create a local user) and then turn the feature ON. Upon re-entry into the vehicle, you must select this same user profile to allow your setting to be retained.
User Profiles and the Guest User Profile
The Q6 e-tron uses different settings to help ensure your privacy. Some traditional vehicle and MMI settings that were previously retained across ignition cycles are no longer saved when using the Guest user profile. Each user of the vehicle must create their own user profile if they wish to have their settings saved in the vehicle.
You must create and use a custom user profile in the MMI to save certain vehicle and MMI settings.
In some instances, the vehicle can choose to present the user profile associated with the key user of the vehicle. This most common scenario is when the vehicle is accessed using an Audi Digital Key or the Audi connect Key Card. In this situation, the driver must always select their user profile if they are not the key user of the vehicle and are accessing the vehicle with a digital key.
Setting Timers for Pre-Climatization and Charging
The 2025 Q6 e-tron allows for predetermined timers to be set to allow preferred charging times and preferred departure times for pre-climatization of the vehicle.
Timers must initially be set in the vehicle’s MMI system before they appear in the myAudi app.
> MMI screen >> App Selector >> Charging >> Departure times
Once a timer is created in the MMI, go to the myAudi app to refresh the vehicle status and view/edit the timers.
> myAudi app >> Vehicle (page) >> Charging >> Timer
> myAudi app >>Vehicle (page) >> Climate control >> Timer
The e-tron Route Planner and EV Battery Preconditioning
When activated, the 2025 Q6 e-tron can precondition the battery ahead of arriving at a level 3 DC fast charging station. This allows the vehicle to receive the highest compatible charging speed when using a level 3 charging station (charging speeds vary based on location, time of day, and the environmental conditions of the charging station).
Activate the navigation route using the integrated MMI Navigation system, select a Level 3 charging station as the POI destination, and ensure the e-tron route planner is enabled when calculating the route.
The internal temperature of the battery can be monitored in the “charging” screen of the vehicle’s MMI system.
> MMI screen >> App Selector >> Charging
Audi MMI Audio Mute, Pause, and Play for Media Sources
The Q6 e-tron has a new concept for media pausing. Muting the audio using the volume knob will not pause the active media source, which is a different behavior than with other Audi models using previous generations of the Audi MMI system.
You must select the media source “now playing” screen to press the virtual pause button on the MMI screen. Muting or turning the volume down to “0” will not pause the audio source.
Yes, the media will pause when answering a call. The MMI will also switch back to the original media source and resume playing when a call ends.
