2025 AUDI A5 FAQs

As an A5 owner, you're driving one of Audi’s most advanced vehicles yet. This FAQ is designed to help you get the most out of your ownership experience by answering common questions and providing helpful tips on features, technology, and everyday use. Whether you're exploring functionality or troubleshooting a concern, this guide empowers you to find quick solutions—no need to reach out unless you'd like additional support.

Audi Digital Key

The 2025 Audi A5 supports the new and innovative digital key feature. The Audi Digital Key allows the key user to lock, unlock, and start the vehicle using their smartphone—no key fob required. This feature comes standard on all 2025 Audi A5 models and does not require an Audi connect subscription.

Depending on the customer’s phone, the digital key uses either Ultra-Wideband (UWB) or Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. Phones equipped with UWB allow the digital key to function like a traditional key fob—users can lock, unlock, or start the vehicle without removing the phone from their pocket or purse. Phones with only NFC require the user to physically tap the phone on the door handle to unlock and place it on the phone charging cradle to start the vehicle.

Audi connect Key Card (aka, Valet Key Card)

The 2025 Audi A5 includes a silver Audi connect Key Card that uses Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. This key card is intended for specific situations where you need to provide access to your vehicle while using only the Audi Digital Key. For example, when using valet services or dropping the vehicle off for service, you would traditionally hand over the key fob. However, if you're operating the vehicle solely with the Audi Digital Key on your smartphone, that’s not possible. In these cases, the silver Audi connect Key Card can be temporarily activated as an authorized “access card” to hand off instead.

It’s recommended to store this card in a secure yet accessible place so it’s easy to retrieve when needed.

Rear Occupant Detection

The 2025 Audi A5 features a new, integrated second-row sensor in the interior roof panel, capable of detecting small movements when the vehicle is turned OFF and locked. This new sensor system works alongside the existing mechanical detection system used in previous Audi models. Rear Occupant Detection is specifically designed to alert the driver if a rear passenger remains in the vehicle after exiting. Please note that this system serves a different purpose and operates differently from the “interior monitoring system” offered on earlier Audi vehicles.

Vehicle Data Privacy Mode Setting (aka, Mobile Data)

The privacy mode concept has changed for the new 2025 Audi A5. The setting in the MMI is no longer listed as “Privacy Mode.” The setting is now titled “Mobile data” in the MMI menu options. Mobile data must be set to ON in order to use most of the features in the vehicle and to see the vehicle status in the myAudi app.

        >MMI screen >>   App Selector >> Settings >> Privacy settings >> Mobile data >> toggle to ON (move to right)

User Profiles and the Guest User Profile

The 2025 Audi A5 uses different settings to help ensure your privacy. Some traditional vehicle and MMI settings that were previously retained across ignition cycles are no longer saved when using the Guest user profile. Each user of the vehicle must create their own user profile if they wish to have their settings saved in the vehicle.

Audi MMI Audio Mute, Pause, and Play for Media Sources

The 2025 Audi A5 has a new concept for media pausing. Muting the audio using the volume knob will not pause the active media source, which is a different behavior than with other Audi models using previous generations of the Audi MMI system.
