Instructions:
You can turn the intersection assistant on or off in the Driver Assistance menu in the MMI.
- The speed must not be higher than 18 mph.
- The “D” selector lever position is selected.
- The system monitors intersections and exit ramps using the sensors that detect the front and side areas around the vehicle.
- If a vehicle is detected, a warning can appear in the driver information display will display. A red arrow can indicate the direction from which the cross traffic is approaching.
- The message “Cross Traffic!” can warn about critical cross traffic when driving forward. There may also be an audible signal.
- If the driver does not react to a warning, a brief braking by the system can warn you of a potential collision with an approaching object.
Limitations:
- Only functions at speeds up to speeds of 6 mph while driving forward.
- The intersection assist will not provide alerts about people and cannot warn you about every type of approaching object.
- The system may not react at all or it may not react on time while vehicles are approaching very quickly.
- The system may not be available or may be limited if weather conditions are too poor or a sensor is covered or damaged.
Features may vary between models. Please review your owner's manual for more information.
