About Eileen Mockus

Eileen Mockus’ mission is to keep sustainability at the forefront. She looks for transparency, beauty, and a sense of place at every opportunity, from restaurants to retail stores. As president and CEO of Coyuchi, a leader in organic, sustainable home textiles, she strives to make high-quality products in a way that is respectful to the process, people, as well as to the earth.

“The product has to be amazing,” she says. “Customers will hold on to a product longer, they will use it in their homes for years to come, if it's a high-quality item and that's a part of sustainability, that it has this longevity to it but it's not going to be disposable.”

Coyuchi is dedicated not only to its customers and their experience, but the people who create their products. “We believe in the fundamentals of fair trade, where you're making sure that there's a fair wage at every step of the process.” The company achieves this through third-party certification such as the Global Organic Textiles Standard, which has strict socioeconomic and environmental standards designed to help meet at every step of the supply chain.

In addition to its organic offerings, Coyuchi also employs regenerative agriculture with its wool products, a method which focuses on soil health and introducing biodiversity back into their farming practices. Under Mockus’ leadership, Coyuchi also became the first home brand to achieve full circularity with the release of its first organic recycled product, The Full Circle Recycled Cotton Blanket & Throw, in 2020.

Crissy Field

1199 E Beach, San Francisco, CA 94129

Crissy Field, with its stunning views of downtown San Francisco, is the signature project of the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy. In 2001, the conservancy transformed a former military airfield into a national park site. The field features a flat, hard-packed promenade perfect for walking or biking and taking in views of the Golden Gate Bridge. A trail stretches through the field between Marina Green and Fort Point. On the east end of the field, there’s a multicultural urban environmental education center for youth and on the west end, a Warming Hut provides beverages and snacks from local producers.
