Techology pilotThe Audi A3 e-tron™
Based on the award-winning Audi A3, the A3 e-tron features a fully electric powertrain with a 26kwh lithium-ion battery, and zero driving emissions. Providing a sporty driving dynamic, Audi A3 e-tron has 199 lb-ft torque, a battery range of up to 90 miles and a top speed of 90 mph all while retaining the versatility of the A3.
Electric motor
The A3 e-tron is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor spinning at up to 16,000 rpm. The water-cooled electric motor has a continuous output of 82 hp, with a peak output of 136 hp. Peak torqueTorqueTorque is what causes rotational speed to change. Just as greater net forces cause greater linear accelerations, greater torques cause greater rotational or angular accelerations.Torque is 199 lb-ft., delivered via single-speed transmission.
Energy storage
Energy storage is provided by the lithium-ion battery, located in multiple blocks under the luggage compartment, under the rear seat and in the center tunnel. Splitting the battery up causes even weight distribution and a low center of gravity; which makes our drivers more connected to the road.
Recharging
The Audi A3 e-tron can be completely recharged via the plug connector and charger in approximately eight hours when connected to a 220V household power supply. This plug connector is standardized for the US charging infrastructure.
Range
The Audi A3 e-tron has a range of up to 90 miles on a fully charged battery, which in most cases is more than enough to meet daily needs in urban metropolitan areas. The electric-powered compact car produces zero emissions.
EV Driving modes
The driver can choose between three driving modes: dynamic, auto or efficiency. Each mode varies the output of the drive motor and climate control behavior, which helps reduce power consumption and increases drive range.
Regenerative Selector Paddles
The driver can help regulate energy recovery during braking and coasting, via the two paddles on the steering wheel. In the lowest level, the A3 e-tron “glides” when the accelerator is released. At the highest level, the car utilizes maximum regenerative breaking and the electric motor returns power back to the battery.
Power meter
The Audi A3 e-tron power meter indicates the amount of power currently being delivered by the electric drive on a scale of zero to 100 percent and informs the driver about the degree of recuperation. Additional instruments allow for clear monitoring of the battery's charge level.
Appearance
A3 e-tron Pilot vehicles with a Glacier White metallic paint finish, sports an understated appearance, with its 18-inch wheels and the interior both borrowed from production models. The Audi exclusive interior adds trim materials and Alcantara®Alcantara®Alcantara is a revolutionary suede-like fabric that is soft to the touch, colorful, comfortable, durable, easy to maintain, versatile, and unique.Alcantara® seats covered in leather.
Special features
A heated windshield helps keep keeps the glass free of condensation and ice in addition to radiating heat to the interior – and it does so much more efficiently than a standard climate control system.
