Motorsport HighlightsDKW Successes 50s
Tuners Döring and Wolf from Wiesbaden developed a 125 cc racing engine with charge pump, which was taken over in 1950 by the Ingolstadt factory. H.P. Müller rode a bike with this engine to class victory in the 1950 German championships. When the factory’s racing department was officially established in 1951, successful riders from pre-war years, Siegfried Wünsch and Ewald Kluge, joined the team.
Rudi Felgenheier
Rudi Felgenheier won the 250cc class heat of the world championship in July 1952 on the Solitude racing circuit near Stuttgart, crossing the line 51 seconds ahead of his nearest rival.
Hockenheim 1955
The start of a German championship race (350 cc); the winner was August Hobl (No. 66), who also took third place in the World Championship. (No. 65: Wünsche; No. 85: Hofmann).
German Grand Prix
On the Solitude circuit in July 1956: August Hobl wins the 125 cc race and takes the German Championship title in this engine-size category.
350 cc Class
This picture was taken on the legendary Avus circuit in Berlin. No. 66 is August Hobl and No. 85 Karl Hofmann, who came in second.
1956 World Champion
The 1956 350cc world championship was decided in Monza, Italy. Hobl (24) led the field and was runner-up in the world championship rankings.
Six Day Trial
The International Six Day Trial held in Czechoslovakia had the status of a World Championship event. Here is the DKW team: 38 - Hans Abt, 101 - Udo Feser and 51 - Otto Brack.
