Audi connect’s Privacy Statement
Your privacy is important to us. We, Audi of America, provide this Privacy Statement to inform you about how we collect, use, and share information about you and your Audi vehicle that is associated with your use of Audi connect’s in-car features. Some Audi connect vehicles are not equipped to offer all of the Audi connect services mentioned in this Privacy Statement. To find out what services are available in your vehicle, see www.audiusa.com/audiconnect. For information about how we collect, use, and share information about you and your Audi vehicle that is associated with your use of the Audi connect mobile application, the my.audiusa.com website, or other applications, websites, or online services associated with Audi connect, please visit www.audiusa.com/privacy.
Information Stored in Your Audi Vehicle
When you set up and use Audi connect services, various information will be stored within your Audi vehicle. We do not remotely access this information. The information stored in your vehicle may include the following:
- the pairing code generated within your myAudi account that you enter into the Multi Media Interface ® (MMI®) to link your account to your Audi vehicle;
- information that you send from your myAudi account to your Audi vehicle, such as destinations and photos (not available in all vehicles);
- information that you enter into the MMI ® such as your destinations;
- your Bluetooth ID as needed to provide personalized services;
- Audi connect settings;
- Information that identifies your vehicle, such as the vehicle identification number (VIN); and
- information identifying the communications equipment installed in your Audi vehicle.
Please note that the information stored in your Audi vehicle may be accessible to others who use your Audi Device, and may be deleted, altered, or transferred. Please see your vehicle’s owner’s manual for information about how to remove the information stored in your Audi vehicle.
Information We Transmit or Collect
When you request an Audi connect service, your Audi vehicle transmits information to us so that we can process your request. These transmissions include information about the requests you make, information that serves to identify whether your Audi vehicle is authorized to receive Audi connect services, and, as appropriate, information that identifies your personalized services such as Facebook, Twitter, and RSS feeds.
We store information about your service requests in log files. Those records include your myAudi user ID, the services you requested, the types of requests you made, the times you requested the services, and the vehicle identification number (VIN) associated with the requests.
You may request information (including directions, parking information, or weather) about a location, including your current location. When you do so, we transmit your Audi vehicle’s location to the appropriate content provider to process your request. We do not transmit to content providers information that directly identifies whether the location is your current location or a location distinct from where you are unless it is revealed by the nature of your request.
For some personalized services (such as Facebook or Twitter) we may transmit to content providers the location information you choose to share along with information that directly identifies you (such as information about your Facebook or Twitter account). For non-personalized services (such as Navigation enhanced by Google, information about parking, city events, flight information, weather, gas prices, ) we share location information with the appropriate content providers as needed to respond to the requests, but we do not share information that directly identifies you or your Audi vehicle. Audi connect receives traffic information without sharing information with the content provider.
After you register certain personalized services in your myAudi account (such as Facebook and Twitter), we store an access token (not your username and password) on our servers so that you need not separately log into the personalized services when you use them.
We transmit information you send when using the service (such as social media messages) and information you request from Audi connect services (such as information feeds, information about parking, travel information, etc.). We do not store the content of any messages you send or access or the locations associated with any information requests that you submit.
How We Use and Share Information Generated by Your In-Car Use of Audi connect
We use the information generated in association with your in-car use of Audi connect to process your requests for Audi connect services. We may de-identity and aggregate records so that the information no longer reasonably identifies you or your Audi vehicle for research and product development.
We transmit information to content providers as described above. We may share information about your use of the Audi connect in-car services to comply with legal orders and requests from law enforcement or other government bodies; as required by law or regulation; to protect the rights or safety of Audi of America, our corporate affiliates, our customers, the public, or others; to combat fraud or criminal activity; or with your consent. We may also share information about your use of the Audi connect in-car services with a purchaser of all or part of Audi of America or its assets.
We will not share information about you or your Audi vehicle that is connected with your use of Audi connect’s in-car features with third parties for their own purposes without your consent.
