Safety belts

Safety belts are the single most important factor in passive safety of vehicles. The most common occupant protection system today is the three-point safety belt, which holds the occupant in the seat and helps protect the body in the event of uncontrolled movements and forces. Supplementary systems, such as airbags*, help with passive safety, but are no substitute for regular use of safety belts.

* Airbags are supplemental restraints only and will not deploy under all accident circumstances. Always use safety belts and seat children only in the rear, using restraint systems appropriate for their size and age.
