The child restraint (CR) anchorage system in a vehicle is commonly referred to as the LATCH system, which stands for "Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children," and is designed for simpler CR installation in the vehicle. It has two components: tether anchors and Lower Anchorage and Guidance Fixtures. The tether anchor is a permanent fixture in the vehicle for the sole purpose of securing the CR. Lower anchors are found between the rear seat cushion and the rear seat back.
