The SEAT León WTCC, developed with support from Audi Sport, also celebrated a successful FIA World Touring Car Championship World debut: Jordi Gené took victory in the new two-liter touring car from the Audi brand group in only its third competitive outing. SEAT competes in the WTCC with a total of six León racers in the 2006 season. The new León, with 280 hp and the direct shift gearbox (DSG) developed by Audi, will also appear next year in the Supercopa, the one-make cup run in four countries.
The German version of the SEAT Leon Supercopa, which is successful in several countries, was part of the DTM support program for the first time during the 2005 season. Peter Terting, who finished as runner-up last year in the German Supercopa proved the importance of the spec touring car series when he was promoted directly to the SEAT works team.
The Lamborghini Murciélago R-GT race car program continued in 2005 with Reiter Engineering solely managing the project.
