The R8 won the 24 Hours of Le Mans five-times, and all three titles in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) six times in succession. In 77 races to date, the Audi sportscar celebrated 61 wins. An R8 started 49 times from pole position, the most successful Le Mans-Prototype ever is credited with 59 fastest laps. In 2005, its sixth and final full season of competition, the R8 won nine of its 15 races.  Audi R10 TDI Audi Triumphs with TDI PowerAUDI AG has again written an important chapter in the history of motor racing with its historic triumph in the 2006 Le Mans 24 Hour race. The new Audi R10 TDI was the first diesel car to win arguably the toughest car race in the world. In front of a record crowd of 235,000 spectators, Frank Biela (Germany), Emanuele Pirro (Italy) and Marco Werner (Germany) clinched the sixth and most important Le Mans win for Audi so far. Dindo Capello (Italy), Tom Kristensen (Denmark) and Allan McNish (Scotland) also reached the podium in finishing third overall. | |
