Collector of Le Mans trophies and wrist watches

2007 must actually be Tom Kristensen’s year, because “7” is his lucky number. He has already won the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans seven times, and was crowned “King of Le Mans” as a result. However, he still has a score to settle in the DTM. Finishing third overall two years in a row has not been exactly to his liking.

Tom Kristensen is more ambitious than most racing drivers. Only winning counts for him – perfection. He doesn’t want to talk about winning the title, but actually about doing things better than last year, to implement the lessons learnt, to be as close as possible to 100 per cent at all times on the track.

Tom Kristensen will be 40 this year. However, he’s as fit as a fiddle and as motivated as he was at the beginning of his career. He has a soft spot for Le Mans and sportscars. But he also loves the DTM. The parity of performance. The high level. The side-by-side action. And he knows just how important the DTM is for Audi.

As ambitious and determined as the Dane is as a racing driver, the more endearing and affable he is in his private life. His family is more important than anything else. The third child is on its way. For his children he severed his ties with Monaco and set-up home in Denmark, where he is well-known as an entertaining chap.

In addition to Le Mans trophies he also collects watches. As a qualified banker he turned his hobby into a business: The Lufthansa Shop even sells “Tom K.” wrist watches.
