Call of the wild

Timo Scheider drives almost every day from his adopted home of Altach on the banks of Lake Constance in Austria to the nearby mountains to relax. “I’m actually quite restless and always have the need to do something”, he says. “Owing to the mental training I do in the wild I can withdraw which helps me concentrate better on race weekends.”

With the help of a mental and fitness trainer, Timo Scheider has got to know his strengths and weaknesses even better, and is absolutely convinced that he can extract more from himself than he could earlier.

The clever young man needs the mental strength even more than ever this year. Because, after performing so well at the wheel of a year-old car in his debut Audi year, Timo Scheider now sits in one of the four latest-generation Audi A4 DTM cars. He knows, “that they must spearhead the championship chase.”

2007 is his big chance, which he aims to use. That’s why Scheider will probably give his great hobby a wide berth during the season: riding Supermoto – a passion that he shares with his partner Jasmin Rubatto. She is the daughter of former motorbike racer Peter Rubatto and even raced herself earlier.

Son Loris Romeo, born in late summer 2003, already rides a quad and kart. Cars just can’t go fast enough for him. No real surprise with parents like these…
